Dean’s AI to Advance Medicine Initiative Fellowship Program

FAIMI Fellowship Program

The Dean’s AI to Advance Medicine Initiative Fellowship Program, or FAIMI, supports early-career faculty pursuing innovative artificial intelligence projects with the potential to advance biomedical research, clinical care, healthcare delivery, and biomedical education.

Objective

The Weill Cornell Medicine Dean’s AI to Advance Medicine Initiative seeks to accelerate the development, validation, and implementation of innovative artificial intelligence technologies that advance biomedical research, clinical care, healthcare delivery, and biomedical education.

The FAIMI Fellowship Program provides financial support to early-career faculty conducting high-impact, high-potential research that applies artificial intelligence, machine learning, foundation models, agentic AI, multimodal analytics, or other advanced computational approaches to important challenges in medicine and healthcare.

Goals

The program seeks to:

  • Generate preliminary data for competitive federal, foundation, or industry-sponsored funding.
  • Accelerate the translation of AI innovations into real-world research and education environments.
  • Foster interdisciplinary collaborations across Weill Cornell Medicine, NewYork-Presbyterian, Cornell Tech, Cornell University, and external partners.
  • Support scalable technologies with potential for institutional adoption, commercialization, or broad healthcare and educational impact.
